Julian Rosenblum • book, music, and lyrics

Julian is a comedy writer and composer who was born in, lives in, and refuses to leave New York City. His original musical, Bohemian Progeny, has been performed at Urban Stages in an AEA 29-hour reading starring Kennedy Kanagawa (Into the Woods), where it was named the best musical of the 2022-2023 season by theater critic Peter Filichia. His written work has been published in McSweeney’s and the Yale Record and his original songs have been performed at 54 Below and Pershing Square Signature Center. His original screenplay has placed as a quarterfinalist in multiple contests from ScreenCraft and as a semifinalist in a contest from Industrial Scripts. He is also the creator of Carol and Ethel’s Podcast (carolandethel.com), where he and his sister star as the internet's favorite Jewish grandmothers. Outside of writing, Julian works full-time as a software engineer.

Joshua Rosenblum • Music director

Joshua has led the orchestras for thirteen Broadway and Off-Broadway shows, with a specialty in flying vehicles (Miss Saigon, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, How the Grinch Stole Christmas). Other conducting credits include guest appearances with the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra, the Brooklyn Philharmonic, and the American Repertory Ballet, as well as the soundtracks to five major motion pictures. For the theater, Rosenblum wrote the score to the cult hit musical Fermat's Last Tango, which had a critically acclaimed Off-Broadway production at the York Theatre Company. He is also the composer and creator of BUSH IS BAD, the smash Off-Broadway musical revue, which Variety magazine called “a sensation.” Two CD recordings of his instrumental music are available from Albany Records. As a pianist, Rosenblum has appeared with the New York Pops at Carnegie Hall, the New York Chamber Symphony, the New Jersey Symphony, the American Symphony Orchestra, and in solo and chamber recitals at Symphony Space. He also plays regularly with the acclaimed City Center Encores! Orchestra on piano, accordion, and celeste. Rosenblum and his wife, soprano Joanne Lessner, have concertized extensively in recitals of art songs, cabaret songs, and Rosenblum’s original compositions. Also a music journalist, Rosenblum has contributed over 500 CD and concert reviews for Opera News. A summa cum laude graduate of Yale College and the Yale School of Music, he now teaches Composing for Musical Theater at his alma mater.

Sabrina Karlin • ADDITIONAL STORY DEVELOPMENT

Sabrina is a New York-based performer, choreographer, and writer born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area. She attended NYU Tisch School of the Arts, earning a BFA in dance and BA in journalism. Since then, she has originated roles off-Broadway, guested with contemporary ballet company Cherylyn Lavagnino Dance, performed as a featured dancer in the 75th anniversary of Oklahoma!, toured the country with Angelina Ballerina: The Musical, and appeared on The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and Inventing Anna. Her choreography has been performed at the Jack Crystal Theatre (NYU Tisch), Scripps College, and Bay Area Dance School. As a writer, she’s produced high-profile brand campaigns, including a TV commercial aired during the Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympics. Today, she’s a writer on the Creative team of The New York Times. Sabrina is thrilled to embrace storytelling in all its forms and collaborate with talented artists across many mediums.
